Domain renewal and expiration

Automatic renewal
For newly registered domains, automatic renewal is enabled by default. Toggle it on the domain's dashboard page.
- In the customer dashboard, open My Domains.
- Click the relevant domain.
- Enable or disable automatic renewal.
Reminders before expiry
You receive email reminders before your domain expires. These are sent 60, 30, 14, 7, 3 and 1 days before expiry.
Renewal invoice
If automatic renewal is enabled, the renewal invoice is issued 7 days before expiry for 1 year. Payment is due within 3 days.
Automatic payment from a saved card
- If your account has a saved card selected as default, this invoice is charged automatically within 24 hours before its due date. Successful payment renews the domain automatically.
- Temporary failures are retried over the next two days. After three failed attempts or a permanent card decline, you receive an email and must pay before the domain expires.
- Without a saved card, pay through My Invoices using a card, bank transfer/EFT or balance.
Renewal invoices you create manually on the domain page, for example for several years, are not charged automatically; you pay them yourself.
What happens at expiry?
A domain not renewed by its expiration date becomes inactive and you receive an email notification.
Risk of losing the domain
Registrars offer only a short grace period after expiry. Recovery after that may cost extra or be impossible. Once released, the domain may be registered by someone else.
Therefore:
- Keep automatic renewal enabled for domains you use.
- Keep the reminder email address current.
- Pay renewal invoices by their due date.
