Moving your website to TeknoWeb: service migration requests
In this article (4)
To migrate a website hosted elsewhere to TeknoWeb, first purchase a hosting plan. Once your account is activated, submit a migration request through the customer dashboard. Our team carries out the migration.
Creating a migration request
- My Services is where you open the hosting service you want to migrate your site to.
- On the service page, click Migrate. The Service Migration Request dialog opens.
- Complete the form:
- Current Provider: The company currently hosting your website.
- Source IP: The IP address of your current server.
- Username: The username of your current hosting account (e.g. cPanel).
- Domain: The domain of the website to be migrated.
- Notes: Special requests, such as the email accounts to migrate or a suitable time window.
- Submit Request submits the request.
Your request is sent to our team as a high-priority support ticket. You can follow progress and our team's questions on the Support Tickets page.
Sensitive information such as passwords
The form has no password field. If our team needs additional access information, they will request it through the support ticket. We recommend changing your passwords at the old provider once the migration is complete.
If you prefer to migrate the site yourself
You can upload your website's files and databases to the new account yourself using cPanel tools. If a full cPanel account backup from your previous provider needs to be restored, mention this in the migration request notes.
After the migration
- Check with our team that your website works correctly on the new account.
- Point your domain's nameservers to TeknoWeb.
- Do not close your old account until the change is complete.
