Connecting your domain to your hosting account

Your hosting account is created with your domain, but visitors can only reach the website once the domain points to the server hosting your account. The most common way to do this is to change the domain's nameserver (NS) settings.
1. Obtain the nameserver addresses
To obtain the nameserver addresses for your hosting service, open a support ticket and specify your service or domain. Our team will provide the correct addresses. Do not use nameserver addresses found elsewhere; an incorrect address can prevent your website from loading.
2. Update the nameserver settings
If your domain is registered with TeknoWeb
- In the customer dashboard, open My Domains.
- Select the domain and open its nameserver settings.
- Replace the current nameserver addresses with the supplied addresses and save.
If your domain is registered with another company
- Sign in to the dashboard of the company where you registered your domain.
- Find your domain's nameserver (DNS server) settings.
- Replace the addresses with the supplied nameserver addresses and save.
If you have trouble with this step, ask the support team at your domain registrar for help. To transfer your domain to TeknoWeb, open a support ticket for the transfer.
3. Wait for propagation
Nameserver changes can take time to propagate across the internet. During this period, some visitors may see your website on the old server and others on the new one. Once the change is complete, your SSL certificate is also issued automatically.
Alternative: pointing an A record
If you manage your domain's DNS records yourself, instead of changing nameservers you can point A records for @ and www to your service's IP address, shown under Access as Server IP.
Things to consider
- If you use an email service elsewhere for your domain, changing nameservers also affects your email records. Inform our support team before making the change.
- If you are migrating your website from another provider, do not change nameservers until the migration is complete.
