Migrating to business email from another service
In this article (5)
If you use email elsewhere, such as Gmail, Yandex or an old hosting account, migrate existing messages to TeknoWeb business email using IMAP: messages and folders are copied from old accounts into new mailboxes.
Recommended sequence
- Purchase business email and create the required mailboxes in the dashboard.
- Copy messages from old accounts into new mailboxes via IMAP. The old accounts remain operational during this step.
- Add the listed DNS records, especially MX, to your domain. New messages then go to the new server.
- Copy any last messages that reached the old accounts during DNS propagation once more.
- Update email clients with the new account details.
For DNS records, read email DNS records; for client configuration, read email client settings.
Copying messages yourself
For a small number of mailboxes, add both old and new accounts via IMAP in Thunderbird or Outlook, then drag folders from the old account to the new one.
Migration assistance
If you want us to migrate your email, open a support ticket and specify the mailboxes and old service so we can explain the scope and conditions.
Plan upgrades
An upgrade preserves your mailboxes and their messages; only the number of mailboxes and per-mailbox storage increase to the new plan. The upgrade applies automatically when its invoice is paid.
Suspension and termination
- Suspension: If the renewal invoice remains unpaid 7 days after its due date, service is suspended. The email domain becomes inactive and mailboxes are unavailable. Service resumes when payment is approved.
- Termination: After 30 days of suspension, service is terminated. Mailboxes, all their messages and the domain configuration on the mail server are deleted.
If you plan to stop using the service, migrate messages to another account or back them up before termination.
