First VPS access and the root password

Server setup starts automatically after payment approval. For security, login details are not shared by email; your root password is visible only in your customer dashboard.
Viewing login details
- In the customer dashboard, open My Servers and select your server.
- Login details shows the username (
root), server IP address and connection command. - Show root password shows the password on screen. Use Copy to copy it to the clipboard and Hide to conceal it.
Each password view is logged for security.
If the card does not show an IP address yet, setup may still be running; refresh after a few minutes.
Connecting via SSH
Run the following command in a terminal and enter your password when prompted:
ssh root@SUNUCU_IP
Use Terminal on macOS and Linux or PowerShell on Windows. On first connection you must confirm the server fingerprint; type yes to continue.
If you supplied an SSH public key and the server was set up with it, the card states this instead of showing a password; connect with your key. If necessary, create a root password using the steps below.
Resetting the root password
- On the server page, use Reset Root Password.
- Accept the confirmation dialog. The previous password becomes invalid.
- The new password is shown once; store it securely. You can view it again later in the Login details card.
These actions are available only while the service is active.
Security recommendations
- On first login, change the password with
passwd. If you change it withpasswd, the password in the dashboard becomes invalid; keep the new password yourself. - Use an SSH key instead of a password where possible.
- Do not share passwords by email or messaging apps.
If SSH access is unavailable, connect to the server screen in your browser; see managing your server from the dashboard.
